Ceramic Plate Level III is a panel that is an add-on component/insert to a ballistic vest Level IIIA. Therefore, Ceramic Plates with Protection Level III has the primary purpose to absorb and disrupt the kinetic energy of a bullet impact and reduce the blunt trauma transferred to the wearer of the vest.
For instance, Ceramic Plates versus traditional metal ones, have a much stronger bulletproof capability, based on their special molecular structure. Therefore, these ceramics are often in the form of a composite blend.
Ceramic Plates’ thickness and weight offer a critical advantage over steel armor plates, simply because they’re lighter. However, the decreased weight comes with a price – ceramic body armor is typically thicker than steel plates.
For instance, Ceramic Plates cannot take multiple rounds in the same location. Therefore, once the plate is hit by around, it normally brakes by impact. The plate is great at stopping 1-3 rounds. When a bullet hits a steel plate, it splatters into thousand fragments. If those fragments aren’t contained, they can cause serious bodily injury.
